Ultra or Reaction?
Ultra is SunTek’s long-running gloss film with a stain-resistant top coat. Reaction is newer, with a top coat SunTek calls super hydrophobic, so water beads off it, and a longer 12-year limited warranty.
SunTek doesn’t publish thickness on its US pages, so compare them on finish, top coat and warranty, and ask the shop which one it is quoting.
The warranty
SunTek’s Ultra warranty covers cracking, bubbling and yellowing, for film professionally sold and installed, and sends buyers to the dealer for restrictions. Get the written terms from the shop.
Removing SunTek film
SunTek says only a SunTek dealer should remove its film, especially from original paint. If you do it yourself, it says to peel back at about 45 degrees toward you, not fold the film over and rip it, and use a steamer in cold weather.
What SunTek film costs
Shops post a median of $1,999 for paint protection film, with half of posted prices between $1,199 and $3,800 (127 shops). By coverage, shops post a median of $1,195 for partial front, $2,000 for full front, $6,000 for full body.
Professional installation
Ask shops what’s in the price
Find installers near you, then ask about the exact product, the prep and which surfaces get coated.
