How long does a glass coating last?
Much less time than one on paint, and the windshield goes first because the wipers abrade it every time they run. Most people redo the windshield at least twice as often as the rest of the glass.
Will a glass coating mean I do not need wipers?
Above about 40mph rain leaves the glass on its own and the wipers can mostly stay off. Below that you still need them. The real gain is at night in bad weather, when a clean sheeting windshield scatters far less light than a wiped one.
